THE TEAM

Lucia Hall, MSc in Mental Health

Lucia Hall is a psychological therapist and mental health practitioner, European psycho-traumatologist, lecturer, communication coach, supervisor, clinical hypnotherapist and EMDR therapist. She is a certified trauma specialist and an expert in treating trauma, PTSD and the conditions that so often accompany them, such as anxiety, depression, nightmares and flashbacks. She was born and raised in Panama before moving to the United States where she was a social worker in the Family and Child Protection units in Detroit, Michigan. Lucia has a British husband and now lives in the UK.

Lucia studied her MSc. in Mental Health at Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital & Kings College School of Medicine/ Institute of Psychiatry. The main therapeutic approaches studied were Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) – two excellent and complementary cognitive approaches.

Lucia has developed and added to that expertise by studying numerous other specialist courses, including a Diploma in Trauma and Abuse (Dip. PICT), a Diploma in Christian Counselling (from London Bible College, now the London School of Theology), Cetificate from ESTSS in Psychotraumatology, she is an EMDR therapist (adult and children) and is trainer for MBTI (Levels 2 & 3). Additional specialised training includes Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Schema Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP), Lifespan Integration (LI), Behavioral Activation (BA), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy (IRRT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET & KIDNET) and various other trauma-focused processes.

As well as specialising in trauma and abuse, including being a consultant Traumatologist for the insurance and legal professions, she also has a great deal of experience in working with depression and anxiety. Lucia also has written a number of accredited training courses. Our training courses are accredited by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and recognised by the Open University. Lucia is a member of many professional bodies including APA, BACP, MBACP, EMDR UK, NCP, and ISTSS, CNHC and the PSA accredited register. She is a fellow of NCP for her contributions to the field of counselling and psychotherapy.

Steven Hall, BA Hon

Steven is currently completing a Master’s in EMDR at the University of Worcester. This is the world-leading highest level of EMDR training available. He also has a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and is one of only a few UK practitioners certified in Rapid Resolution Therapy^TM. In addition, Steven is a Certified Pain Management Practitioner as well as being a Couples Communication coach.

Steven lectured at colleges and universities for many years, teaching counselling and psychotherapy. He is also a trained supervisor and a Senior Accredited Member of the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP) and a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS).

Mr Norman Finlayson

I have worked in Mental Health since 1984 in a variety is disciplines and specialities. After qualifying in CBT in 1992, my key clinical responsibilities included conducting detailed clinical assessments, generating individualized formulations/ CBT treatment plans for moderate depression, severe depression, Recurrent Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Panic Disorder with & without Agoraphobia, OCD, Health Anxiety, Somatoform Disorders, Seasonal Affective Disorder and PTSD on a one-to-one basis. I also developed expertise in facilitating Disorder Specific Group formats for Common Mental Health Problems.

Between July 2008 and March 2016, I have shared my clinical role in CBT with Senior Leadership roles in Adult Mental Health: Service Lead, for the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) Service (Leicester City) and Clinical Lead for IAPT with Nottingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Since March 2019, I have worked as a CBT therapist & Traumatologist with The Transformation Centre focussing on trauma-processing both face to face and more recently online.

My clinical practice is safe, collaborative, effective, and grounded in research and best practice NICE guidelines for Anxiety, Depression and PTSD and I am BABCP accredited.

I am looking forward to a continuation in my very positive and research informed dimension to my CBT and trauma-processing based on NICE compliant psychological therapy/interventions.

We offer online appointments (via Zoom Pro) with flexible scheduling.

While we were forced to move our treatment to online rather than in-person due to the pandemic, our clients have reported that they have found the experience to be very good. Fortuitiously, just before the lockdown began we were trained in some innovative therapeutic approaches, which turned out to be highly effective for online therapy. Indeed, several clients have expressed how much more they are enjoying their sessions, compared with their previous in-person sessions.

We will continue to work online for the foreseeable future.
